Starting today (25/04/2016), a project team of installers, manufacturers, CAD suppliers and BIM specialists set to work on the Uniform Object Library for the installation sector. This allows installers to apply BIM objects in their CAD systems and exchange data without any problems.
The project team presented itself on the 21st of April at the BIM practice day in Utrecht.
The project team that will accomplish the Uniform Object Library, consists of UNETO-VNI, 2BA, Cadac, Itannex, Bimforce, Sysunite and Witas and receives support from a number of leading international IFC specialists.
The installation sector is closely involved with the execution of this project; BIM-managers of BAM, Engie, Heijmans, Kuijpers, TBI & ULC will be giving constant feedback on the interim results.
In addition manufacturers and CAD suppliers will test the object models and data structures. The first results of the project are expected in June of this year.
In February UNETO-VNI announced the start of the project for a Uniform Objects Library during a BIM event that took place during the VSK fair. Here UNETO-VNI, FME / FEDET, Stichting Ketenstandaard Bouw en Installatie & 2BA signed a cooperation agreement.
With the Uniform Object Library (UOL), the installation sector is taking the last step towards problem-free data exchange and full BIM.
Thanks to this UNETO-VNI initiative productivity in the installation sector is increasing. Manufacturers now only need to enter data once and installers can easily exchange BIM models.
The chance of errrors and delays in the construction process decreases drastically because of it. In addition, the data provides important information for asset management.
